An “Approve” vote on Question 3 will authorize the borrowing of $84.7 million for highway, bridge and transit improvements — making Rhode Island eligible for another $338.8 million in Federal matching funds over the next two years. The end-benefit is a total program for infrastructure improvements in the amount of $423.5 milion.

Rhode Island has no other immediate source of funding for transportation initiatives. So it’s more crucial than ever to take advantage of all available Federal monies: which would simply go to other states.
